Interview
I love to do these once in a while with the girls just to see how their answers change as they get older.
Jessie
Q:Why do you hate wearing clothes so much?
A: Because I always don't like clothes and I always like nakedness.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do?
A: Ummm, clean up my room even though it's very hard work. (Interesting, it sure doesn't seem to be her favorite thing to do when I ask her to do it.)
Q: If you could do one thing all day long what would it be?
A: Cleaning up my room.
Q: Really?? Why?
A: Because that's a quick thing to do and it's very long. (Makes complete sense)
Q: What do you want to be when you grow up?
A: A grown-up like you...and a sister.
Q: What is your favorite thing about yourself?
A: My favorite thing about myself is playing with Tegan, and I love her. (ohhhhh)
Q: Where do you want to live when you grow up?
A: In a house bigger than this one because when I grow up I'll be very big...I'll be taller than Papi.
Q: Name five fruits.
A: Apple, banana, lemon, a fruit snack, and a cake.
Q: What is the thing you are most scared of?
A: SHOTS!
Tegan
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: Snow White
Q:What's your favorite color?
A: Blue (which happens to also be the color of everything for her right now.)
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Snow white food.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do?
A: Color (She has discovered this coloring thing and it has been wonderful at church and restaurants etc. Except when the receiver of her art project is the couch).
Q: What is your favorite animal?
A: A kitty

Please, somebody remind me that it pays to be consistent.
Today was just one of those days. It was mostly my own fault. I stayed up much to late watching my guilty pleasure last night and woke up much to early trying to shed the remains of holiday weight clinging to my body for dear life...so needless to say I've been exhausted all day.
It was one of those days where I wanted to surrender and let my kids watch their favorite Disney movies and snack on cookies and milk all day. Forget the art project or sliced apples.
One of those days where I wanted to just give in when they demanded something rather than correct them and remind them to use good manners.
One of those days where I wanted to pick all their toys up instead of gently and then not so gently reminding them that they needed to do it. Meanwhile, watching the sun rise and then set waiting for it to get done.
One of those days where they could scurry off to bed with their teeth unbrushed and sugar-coated, and not feel a bit guilty about it.
One of those days where I contemplated skipping goodnight prayers and scriptures, rationalizing that we could double up on it tomorrow.
One of those days where I just say to myself "I can't! I don't have the energy to remember all these things ALL the time.
Is that so bad??
And to those superstars who have more than two--First, I'm so sorry for whining. Secondly, how do you do it?
I know that some day it will pay. Some day I will politely be invited to join my kids for a healthy snack of carrots and hummus. They will remind me to bless the food before eating and then flash me their beautiful smiles, white teeth glistening in the light. Yes...someday.

Inside My Head
Some thoughts from this past week...
"Why do I still carry my 4 year old around on my hip as if she were 1?"
"Sunshine after several rainy days is the best therapy ever."
"I love lemons...especially in desserts."
"Is my husband's snoring one of those endearing things I would miss if it stopped?"
"I think a tap dancing class could be fun."
"Wow! The daffodils are already sprouting out of the ground...Ellen's right, I've got to rip that ugly ivy out this year."
"Chin hairs...Really??"
"I wonder how much longer before Tegan refuses to go get something for the 100th time from the bedroom for Jessie?"
"I need to find out what is and is not okay to shove down the garbage disposal."
"Should I be good and order steamed veggies or go for the fries??"

Sunday Nap
I'm reluctantly adjusting to our new church time of 9:00 am. It's not the worst time, but I was happy with 11:00. Now one of our two sleep in days is gone, and poor Tommy has to get up even earlier than a work day for meetings. There is one nice thing though, and that is the Sunday nap. I love coming home, putting Tegan and Jess down for nap and then curling up in the middle of the day to take one of my own. No matter how well rested I may be, on Sunday my body feels like it literally shuts down. Upon waking up, it's only mid-afternoon and we've still got a good chunk of day left to hang out. The one problem with the Sunday nap is that it's now 1:00 in the morning and I'm wide awake.
On a completely seperate note, but one still worth mentioning. My Brother's family sent my girls this book Tickle Monster for Christmas.
I'd put it on my bookshelf for safe keeping until Christmas, and then forgotten all about it. I saw it when I was rummaging around our room the other day and the girls have enjoyed there belated (on account of myself) Christmas gift. It's one of the cutest children's books I've read. It comes with these furry little gloves and is so clever. Jessie is now wearing these gloves to bed and then putting them under her pillow through the night.

A Big Discovery...or maybe just a reminder

This is my wrist lonely, lost, unpunctual, and frazzled... I can't remember when this necessity began, but I have absolutely needed a watch ever since I can remember. In fact, I don't know how one lives without having one. It has basically become just another appendage for me, a part of my body. I sleep with it on, clean with it on, work with it on, and even shower with it on. On Christmas Eve I made a huge mistake by taking my watch off, after some prodding from Tegan, to keep her entertained a while longer. She wandered off with it and I have yet to find it (and trust me I've looked). I was going crazy every time I would look down at my bare wrist. Then vacations came and time really didn't matter so much. Now that real life has resumed and time is of the essence I NEED a watch. Tommy makes the argument that I can just carry around my cell phone, but a bulky phone in my pocked that I have to take out every time I want to know the time (which I found out averages about every 5-10 minutes) is just not practical. I tried calculating time by where the sun is at in the sky, but all I see are clouds. So last night after searching and searching and searching and then nearly having a breakdown, I came to the realization that I would just have to break down and buy a new one.
This is my much happier, peaceful, more organized wrist. Now I'm sure I'll find my old watch soon and it will probably be right under my nose. But that's okay. I've learned it can't hurt to have a back-up.

December 2010 at a Glance
December was an eventful month for us. At times chaotic, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Here's a recap with a few photos.
Putting up the Christmas tree. Not too big, not too small, but just right!
The girls enjoyed some hot chocolate why mommy and papi strung the lights
A trip to Storybook Land in Albany. We'd never been before, but the girls loved it. It was full of different Disney and cartoon characters displayed throughout this large warehouse and a visit with Santa at the end. I'm not sure why Jessie's eyes are so big, perhaps she was in a semi-trance from taking it all in.
Gingerbread cookies with cousins.
Jessie's preschool program. I was surprised at how many songs the 3 and 4 year olds had memorized.
Get togethers with friends and family.

Christmas morning with lots of smiles and surprises
Tom opening his favorite gift (a homemade coupon book).
Tegan resting her head on her pile o snakes on Christmas morning.
Enjoying Tegan's new "Piggy Bag"
Christmas afternoon with Grandpa Bezzant and family. And lastly but certainly not least...
Ringing in the new year with Jay and Julia

Sparkling Cider
A game of Settlers
and a kiss! Goodbye to 2010 and hello to 2011. Here goes writing the wrong year for the next few months. We had a great year and look forward to what's ahead.... Now if I can just see my way through January and February life will be good!
