A few things in my house that I love..

This Simplehuman garbage can has been awesome. It was a little pricey for what you'd want to spend on a garbage can, but well worth it. Tom and I purchased it with a gift certificate shortly after we were married. It has the foot pedal so you never have to touch the icky garbage. I don't have to see the garbage or smell it. I never thought I'd be so in love with a garbage can.
These puzzles are from Discovery Toys. They come in a set of nine. Jessie has always loved puzzles so I'm always on the lookout for new, different ones. These have been my favorite so far. They're progressive so there are three with 4 pieces, three with 6 pieces, and three with 8 pieces. So far, they have been a hit in our home.
My Aunt gave me this Kitchen Aid electric chopper, whisk, and mixer. I use this thing constantly. The chopper is great for nuts, onions, garlic, and pretty much anything I need to dice. Even better, it's not a pain to clean. I use the mixer for shakes that I'm trying to fatten Jessie (my little stick figure) up with. Again-much easier to clean then a traditional blender.
I got this IKEA dish set from a good friend a couple years ago and love it, love it, love it. They are the perfect size for my little eater and the utensils are safe and furniture friendly. When Jessie tries to stab the dinner table-it leaves no mark.
I love the foam dispensed soap. I learned from a friend, who learned from a friend, that to make this you just add 1/3 soap and 2/3 water to the soap dispenser. This has made washing dishes not quite fun, but tolerable.

Oh what do you do in the wintertime.....

Many of you have heard me complain about January. It's usually my least favorite month of the year. I thought I would take a different strategy today and focus on the things that I enjoy during winter, so hear goes the list-in no particular order.

1. Reading
2. Baking cookies
3. EARLY morning workouts with my friend
4. Soup, soup, and more soup
5. The heat dish (not the bill)
6. Renting a movie and watching it with Tommy
7. Sitting by the warm window on a clear, sunny day
8. Playing board games with Jessie
9. Dreaming about summer, beaches, and natural heat
10. Dancing with Jessie to her favorite CD's
11. Sleeping in all wrapped up under the covers-or should I say dreaming about it
12. Waching all my favorite shows
13. Girls night
14. Watching Tegan smile, coo, and roll over

Caution all bobby pin users....

This is a warning to all bobby pin users. I used to think it was okay to leave a bobby pin in my pants pocket - maybe even run one through the wash by accident... but now...I know better.
The culprit
The now "old" heating element
Tom replacing the old heating element. Sorry babe : (

The Sweetest Words...

The other day my daughter Jessie came up to me, wrapped her arms around me, and said "Mommy, I love you." Instantly in that moment I was wrapped around her little finger. I would've read her the same book 50 times, or sang itsy bitsy spider until hoarse. If she destroyed her hair that I'd spent 10 minutes doing, I wouldn't even flinch. I would've given her a breakfast of cookies and milk and refrained from rolling my eyes at yet another early morning wake up. Yes, at that moment I was at her mercy. I wonder... how long before she realizes the power those words have on a mother??
