One of the New Years resolutions that Tom and I had was to run a race together this year. I don't think either of us thought it would be a long relay, but the opportunity was there and we took it. It ended up being so much fun. It was 170 miles from Lake Oswego to Eugene broken up into a team of 12, each member running 3 seperate legs. It was hot at times, sleepless, and physically exhausting, but definitely worth it.

Portland to Eugene Relay Adventure
One of the New Years resolutions that Tom and I had was to run a race together this year. I don't think either of us thought it would be a long relay, but the opportunity was there and we took it. The beginning of it all for our van (#2) waiting in St. Paul at the van exchange. We are fresh and ready to go here.
Part of the relay included decorating our vans for the trip. I underestimated the available space for my husbands name. Whoops!

This is the 6 members in our van. I didn't get many pictures of the rest of our team in the 1st van.

It was mostly running through the country and small towns. Some parts were so beautiful.
A very vital part of it all
We just had to try to catch sleep whenever we could. Seth (in this picture) came all the way from Utah to participate.
One leg down and two more to go. Starting to look a little stinky.
We all took turns driving
Finishing up my run in the dark. This was around 1:00 in the morning. It was a little scary running along a highway that late at night, but it felt so good outside.
This is Janna, she was our oldest, but most energetic team member. She picked up a leg that someone else wasn't able to run.

Both of us finishing up our last legs. It felt invigorating in a sore kind of way.
Along the way we found Seth's look alike from another van.
Part of our welcoming crew in Eugene. It was so nice of Dan to be there. Kristin made a stop to with Owen and Ella. We love our Eugene friends.
Finished and happy. We're already planning to do it again next year.
